Coming Back

Going for a Thanksgiving walk

Cutting back on at least one of the meds has helped Wes to feel more and more like himself every day. He is not sleeping nearly as much as he was and that makes part of our life feel more normal. And after they removed his staples the scar is barely noticeable anymore.

It's Thanksgiving Sunday and the rain finally slowed to a mild drizzle, mild enough that we could go out for our walk. It was pretty cold and we were fairly damp by the time we made it to the corner and back, but the dog seemed to be happy to have company out on such a dreary day.

This is the first time in, I don't know how many years, that we haven't had any gatherings on Thanksgiving weekend. However, considering the full week that we have coming up, some time to ourselves was alright. The fall colors this year have been magnificent and I love how the leaves have stuck around for so long.

The birds in our perennial garden were singing so loudly we stopped for awhile just to listen. That is until 'Buddy', our Heinz 57, ran through the garden and chased them up into the air.

We've probably noticed more of nature around us this year than ever before. When God's plan for your life puts the brakes on the direction that you thought you were going you look at things a little differently...OK, you look at everything completely differently. And you don't stop thinking...thinking about the past...thinking about the present and contemplating the future. Where is God taking us not just tomorrow, but in every moment of today.

"Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!"

Revelation 5:13
