A full week...

Well, Wes is off to bed to rest up for the start of his chemo run tomorrow. He realizes how important it is to rest up before, during and after his five days of chemo. This week has felt like it's been flying by, but on the other hand it feels as though it's dragging its feet. The reason? Well, because of a couple of things. First off, as I said Wes begins his chemo again tomorrow and then on Friday I have my surgery first thing in the morning to remove an irritated gallbladder. The doctors are hoping that this will solve my pancreatic issues as well...I'm hoping so too! The attacks have been coming more frequently and so I'm thinking this surgery will be worth it...at least I hope it will.
Hope...it's a little word with a big finger pointing to our futures. We can't live without hope, that's the long and the short of it. We hope...we hope for a long healthy life...we hope for success and joy...we hope for so many things and yet where does our hope and help come from? There are moments when I feel I have it together and you look to the future with a positive strength that you don't even understand yourself and then there are moments when you feel like a blind man feeling around an empty room searching for that lost treasure called hope. When we hear that God is the God of the mountains and the valleys we don't really understand what that means until we've walked through a valley. So what do you do when you're in the valley looking up in the shadow of the biggest mountain you've ever faced? Quit looking at the mountain it's too overwhelming, quit looking further down the valley the darkness will swallow you up, but look beside you, I swear His Presence is palpable...He's there...if you close your eyes you can feel Him...when the darkness wants to swallow up your zest for living...breathe...He is the sweet fragrance in the air you breathe....just keep breathing. In choosing to breathe He will help you to live again. You are His, He cares for you because He breathed life into you...how much safer can you get?

"the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being." Genesis 2:7
