Guess who we saw when we went for our walk?

OK, now I'm not the type of person that is hung up on a very hot summer, but this weather we're having right now is starting to grate on my nerves! So, get this, Wes and I like to go for our walks in the evening, but it's a lot of work! Long john's, turtlenecks, toques, mitts AND a heavy jacket...good night nurse where's the global warming at? And the fields that were planted while it was halfway dry are actually sprouting! Go figure!
The one tractor we saw struggling to cultivate just to get the field ready got stuck after about the second round and though the tractor was equipped with duals you couldn't tell because the mud had caked everything completely full and you couldn't see the tread on the tire either, yuck what a mess!

I'm just hoping that the mosquitoes are having a rough time reproducing out there, that could be the only positive that comes out of this.

We had planned to go on the 'Ride for Eternity' tomorrow, but with the strong icy winds and the low temperatures it just isn't that appealing and probably won't happen. They were going to go up to Seven Sisters Falls and that would have been so much fun!
We went last year and it was so much fun! We started out at Morden Motorsports at about 8:30 in the morning and then we took off to Steinbach, then to Winnipeg and on to Portage. Just when we reached Portage there was a downpour, but thankfully they had a tent set up and we were comfortable inside. They had a praise and worship team that sang for us for about half an hour and then a couple of young gentlemen from Teen Challenge shared their testimonies. WOW, their stories were amazing!

We were served supper and then after a few door prizes (Wes won a Harley Davidson Jacket!) we motored off back home. We had never been a part of this motorcycle run before, but it was worth every minute. Not to mention it is a worthwhile cause to support!
Oh, quick look out the window...there's the sun, it's out for it's 15 minute run and then I'm sure it will disappear for the evening. Ah well, it was nice while it lasted.
We get frustrated with the weather, but is this how frustrated God gets with us sometimes? We are cold and whiny, complaining about everything. We are like a freezing wind that blows up to Him because nothing here is good enough. And yet, we are so rich.
I spoke with a young man today who lived with tribes of people who are hearing the gospel for the first time EVER. Who have a Bible translated in their language for the first time through Wycliffe Translators and we complain when we have four or five to choose from and we don't know which version to use...if we open them at all. We go to church, but we complain about music, sound, the people, pews and pastors, but you've got to admit that we are pretty spoiled. We can worship in freedom, we KNOW who we are worshiping because we are blessed to have the Bible and the Pastors, the music and even the church building to worship in.
I worked alongside this young man, helping him to set up for our Sunday morning service this weekend. He will be sharing for a few minutes about the life he and his wife and children had as missionaries. Our short conversation reminded me of how blessed we are out here. He is a missionary with New Tribes Ministries and he shared with me the story of a gentleman from one of the tribes who died to a Christless eternity never hearing the gospel and how that broke his heart. He shared other stories and as he spoke my tears ran. These beautiful 'ocean' people have only begun to wear clothes made of cloth in this generation. The older generations wore bark and from what I understand some still do. They 'treasure' their Bibles, they gather with excitement (I watched the video he had of the very first ever Bible study in one of the huts. Amazing), families are important, when they become believers the 'old' beliefs and superstitions pass away and it's obvious to those around that something has changed. He told me that there are 6700 languages in the world and there are still 2500 left that need to have an interpretation of the gospel. That hit me hard, I thought we were a lot further along than that.
Recently our church showed a video of a young woman who had recently been persecuted for her faith. She was beaten and ultimately jailed for six years and while she was in jail she made Christmas lights to send to America...I'll never look at Christmas lights the same way again!

Well, I better go get supper going...something hot I'm thinking...
"I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!" Revelation 3:15
