The Hope of Christmas...

Christmas morning! What a wonderful morning! Eva arrived around 10:30a.m. and that was my cue to finally get Nic to wake up - haha. When I told him that it was twenty to eleven and Eva was already here he jumped out of bed and asked why no one had woken him up earlier.
We opened our presents and Wes and I were both overwhelmed with the gifts from our three children (yes, I'm including Eva!). We laughed, we joked around, we were serious and we even shed a few tears, but it was all good. But, it wasn't just the physical gifts our children gave, although they were awesome, but it is the love, the emotional support, the humor and peace that their presence offered us, not just today to make Christmas special, but every day throughout our journey they have been an amazing support.
After exchanging our gifts I made dinner - no turkey! - schinkefleisch and potatoes with schmaunt fat, broccoli/pea pods and coleslaw. It was really good if I do say so myself. In fact there were no leftovers - hahaha.
Wes went for a nice long nap after lunch and so I watched Santa Claus 2 with Eva and the boys while he slept. Then when Wes got up we all watched the movie Secondhand Lions that Nic had brought with, it is a hilarious movie if you get a chance to watch it! I am so thankful to God for this special Christmas, we have been trying very hard to make every moment count and today...well, God made it a very wonderful, memorable Christmas.

Here is a Christmas promise that we hold onto not just for today, but for the rest of our lives!

Ours was also a Christmas unlike any we have had before, but, Christ can and should still be at the centre of all. It is good to know that in this changing and uncertain world in which we live, we serve an unchanging Saviour and Lord! Our thoughts and prayers have been with you and yours during this Blessed Season. May you continue to draw strength from the Source; He has a never ending supply!

Love, Bert & Doreen
